One of the more colorful histories in art, Indian Yellow was once made from cow’s urine. The story goes that cows in India were exclusively fed mango leaves: the cows’ bright yellow urine was used to make bright yellow-orange paint colorants. Today, no urine is used in the creation of this color. Instead, we use modern arylide yellow pigments. Indian Yellow creates glowing transparent washes perfect for sun-lit scenes.
